The project involves the conversion of
an existing stadium into a FIFA compliant
training facility for the 2010 FIFA World
Cup. Along with this was the development
of the stadium as a new sport hub for the
town.
The stadium is situated within a sports
precinct, designed as part of the overall
Kwa Mashu Town Centre urban scheme.
The sports precinct acts as a large-scale
urban park incorporating new recreation,
commercial and sports facilities.
Situated within a peri-urban context, the
stadium acts as a catalyst for social and
economic activity in the region.
The building’s low maintenance and
robust finishes echo the philosophy of
environmentally sustainable architecture
achieved through sustained use and
longevity. The pitch was laid to the highest
FIFA specifications with water harvesting
facilities
