Development

Originally quarters for dock workers, this double row of accommodation has been upgraded and extended over the years. Bamboo Square, a significant gathering place since the early 1900’s, provides a significant layer of heritage to the site. The memory of Bamboo Square has been translated through the proposal of publicly accessible spaces with inter-related functions thus allowing for free pedestrian movement.

Concept: Container

The container is a contemporary and historical symbol of export and import in the shipping industry. The concept includes the creation of a functional, lightweight, economic and secure environment. A flexible living, working and playing environment within a contemporary context.
